About
Founded in 1971, the Cambridge Women’s Center (CWC) is the oldest continuously running community center for women in the United States.
The Cambridge Women's Center is a community space open to anyone for whom woman is a meaningful identifier or lived experience.
CWC offers a safe space for learning, emotional support, empathy, and empowerment through self-determination. The Cambridge Women's Center community, and the population they serve, is inclusive and they are actively working towards justice for Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQIA+, those with disabilities and/or mental illness, the unhoused and other Powerful Groups (both national and international) targeted for oppression.
Volunteers are needed to help with the Drop-In sessions at Cambridge Women’s Center. Two-, four- and seven-hour blocks of time are available on Drop-In days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Volunteer activities have included:
Offering emotional support and conversation to program participants
Coordinating food deliveries/home cooking
Offering resources and referrals to program participants
Maintaining a clean and welcoming space
Running a group/workshop (e.g. yoga, a craft, mindfulness, self-care, etc.)
Creating a fundraiser or supply drive
Organizing material donations
Supporting staff with IT needs, data entry, and other remote administrative tasks
