About
FriendshipWorks recruits, trains, and matches volunteers with opportunities to support their mission of reducing social isolation, enchancing quality of life, and preserving the dignity of older adults in the Greater Boston area. FriendshipWorks has opportunities to be matched with an older adult for weekly visits, to provide short-term assistance with tasks at home or errands in their neighborhood, to assist older adults in traveling to and from medical appointments, and to visit groups of older adults with your pet.
Most volunteering can be done flexibly, in the evenings and on weekends. No experience is needed and FriendshipWorks welcomes speakers of all languages, as well as BIPOC volunteers, LGBTQ+, and those who have disabilities. Volunteers can be any age for cardmaking, 15+ for Friendly Helping, and 18+ for all other programs.
