Lead and Serve:
Growing and Giving through Nonprofit Board Service

Are you seeking more compelling leadership opportunities?  Join two local nonprofit hubs to get the inside story on how participating in a nonprofit board can help emerging leaders like you grow and engage more deeply with your community.  Net Impact Boston and Cambridge Volunteers host a panel of diverse professionals who will share their experiences in board positions and the range of available opportunities. Give yourself a chance to consider what you can offer a nonprofit, and how you could learn and grow from the experience.

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Kendall Square Challenge!

We are so grateful to have been part of this year's Challenge, and we could not have done it without your volunteer support.

2024 VOLUNTEER FAIR: Find Your Mission with Cambridge Volunteers

Thanks to everyone who participated in our 2024 Volunteer Fair on February 8! We hosted more than twice the number of community volunteers present at last year's fair, and nearly all attendees reported learning of at least one new volunteer position they were interested in pursuing.

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER FAIR: Find Your Mission with Cambridge Volunteers

We were thrilled to engage dozens of new volunteers and introduce them to over 30 local agencies at this fantastic virtual event! Several volunteers reported finding positions that fit their interests, even before the event concluded. We are already looking forward to our next volunteer fair on February 8!

Thanks again to our key event sponsor, Harvard University's center for public service and engaged scholarship, Phillips Brooks House.

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS:
Margaret Fuller House Thanksgiving Project

22 CVC volunteers showed up Nov 18th at Margaret Fuller House to pack Thanksgiving feasts for 520 local families! It was also a special opportunity for volunteers to get to know this beloved institution, and make new friends over mounds of potatoes, carrots, and onions. Some worked multiple shifts and one volunteer has already become a weekly food pantry helper! MFH Food Pantry Coordinator Phoebe Heyman was unflappable. With her support, we finished more than an hour early!

CAMBRIDGE SERVES: Reimagining Boards

Nonprofit thought-leader and author of the internationally heralded blog NonprofitAF.com Vu Le headlined our second annual Cambridge Serves event with his characteristic candor and humor, focusing on how to create community-centered nonprofit boards that support and sustain equity.

Before opening the floor to questions, Le bantered for about 45 minutes with Cambridge’s own Maritza Grooms, social justice educator/advocate and Assistant Director of CCTV.

The high-energy gathering attracted 190 nonprofit leaders, staff and board members, community residents, corporate representatives and elected officials.

A summary of the event appeared in the March 16 issue of Mass Nonprofit News.

We are grateful for the very generous support of Cambridge Trust, Biogen and MIT, which made this event possible.
