One-to-One Mentors

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern MA

Description

Volunteer "Bigs" are paired individually with children or youth aged 7-12 ("Littles") according to personality, interests, and location. Bigs plan the time, place, and activities for each meeting.

Community Mentors meet in-person with younger children at a place of mutual interest where they can have fun, an adventure, or just a good chat. The Big Futures mentoring program (previously "Mentor 2.0") mixes remote and in-person meetings for high school students and Bigs.

A minimum one-year commitment is required. Community Mentors get together with Littles twice a month for about 3 hours each time. Big Futures mentors connect with their Little once a week via email or phone, and meet once a month in person.

Bigs and Littles are partnered after an application process including a questionnaire, references, and an interview. Volunteers must be 18+ years of age. Spanish language is a plus.
